Jorginho's agent drops big contract hint over Chelsea future amid Barcelona transfer rumours

Joao Santos, Jorginho's agent, has revealed they both prioritise staying with Chelsea beyond the end of his contract at Stamford Bridge.

The 30-year-old sees his Blues deal expire at the end of the season and Barcelona are said to be keeping an eye on his situation ahead of a possible free transfer next summer. Jorginho has started four of Graham Potter's five matches in charge of Chelsea so far and looks to be a big part of the new head coach's plans at Stamford Bridge.

However, with Barcelona sniffing around the Italian, it could be one Chelsea, and the player, look to get sorted as soon as possible. Now, Santos, when speaking to Tuttomercatoweb, has dropped a big hint over the midfielder's future, saying that work is already being done over a contract extension with Chelsea.

"We are due in June," Santos said on Jorginho's current contract with Chelsea. "We prioritise Chelsea and we are moving towards it. Another priority for Jorginho is to do well with the national team."

Santos was then asked about being spotted in Barcelona. The Catalan club have been strongly linked with the Chelsea midfielder in recent weeks, so his presence in the city was bound to raise a few questions.

"I went [to Barcelona] to pray," Santos said, while smiling, to Tuttomercatoweb. "I work in football, I have been to Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia but also in other parts such as Lyon. It's work. I'm Jorginho's agent, I may have talked about him but also about others."

Barcelona aren't the only club interested in Jorginho. football.london understands Juventus maintain their long-term interest in the former Napoli midfielder and could look to make a move, either in January or in the summer.

The Italian, though, when speaking about his future a few months ago, is not fixated on a move away from west London anytime soon. He said: "Of course, I love Chelsea. I feel very well here and of course, I would like to stay.

"But you know, there is a lot going on and we don't know. As I said before, I am here now and I have a contract and I love to be here, I feel very well here. So I don't think about moving anywhere."

He added: "For many years now [there is speculation over his future]. Every single year! I don't think like this. I just think about where I am and focus 100 per cent. I'm at Chelsea and I think about Chelsea 100 per cent.

"We don't know [what is going to happen] but we are professionals. The only thing I feel I can say is that everyone is still here, they need to focus on what they are doing here every single day, not just for the club but for themselves because you don't know what is going to happen."
