Jorginho reacts on Instagram after 'nightmare' Arsenal debut as £12m signing gets new nickname

Jorginho made his first Arsenal appearance following his £12m transfer from Chelsea on deadline day.

Although, it's safe to say things didn't go to plan against Everton. Introduced to proceedings as a replacement for Thomas Partey just before the hour mark at Goodison Park, seconds later the visitors were trailing to a James Tarkowski header which ultimately proved to be the winner.

Cue a massive reaction on social media. Some Chelsea fans, in jest, coined the nickname 'Agent Jorginho' citing that the Italy international has been sent to plot against Arsenal in their pursuit of the Premier League trophy, thus following in the footsteps of Petr Cech, Willian and David Luiz.

Meanwhile, the fact that the Gunners conceded within 60 seconds of Jorginho entering the field of play - even though the midfielder wasn't at fault for the goal - has led to the verdict that he endured a 'nightmare debut' four days removed from sealing a move from the Blues.

Despite this, Arsenal's new number 20 is choosing to look ahead to next weekend's clash at home to Brentford after taking to social media to reveal that whilst his debut didn't go the way he would have wanted, it's important the players and supporters stick together after the defeat.

"Not the way I wanted the first one to be but we bounce back and push even more all together," he wrote on Instagram. "Thank you for the support."

The 31-year-old's message was 'liked' by Rob Holding - an unused substitute at Goodison Park - brought out a love heart and muscle emoji from captain Martin Odegaard and echoed what Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has said about bouncing back from the loss immediately.

"I want the team to know how much I love them," the Spaniard said in his post-match press conference. "I love them much more now than three hours ago, a week ago, a month ago, three months ago. It’s very easy to be next to the players when they’re winning and performing.

"These are the moments when I love my players more and my staff more and we’re going to stay together. This journey is going to be difficult and challenging and there’s going to be big stones in the middle and we have to overcome that. Now we have to prepare the week really well to get to Saturday with the right emotional spirit to beat Brentford."
