Jorginho out, Tammy Abraham decision - Chelsea predicted team vs Sheffield United

Frank Lampard will be reluctant to change a winning formula against a Sheffield United team struggling in attack and without a win on the board.

Heading into the international break, the West Londoners will be looking to win their fourth game in a row and stretch a run of clean sheets to six games.

With Chelsea scoring 10 without reply in the past three games, the only changes will come from Lampard deciding a particular player needs some rest.

Chelsea v Sheffield United: Frank Lampard press conference

The only question mark with the back five is whether Thiago Silva, who Lampard spoke glowingly of once again yesterday, is rested considering he must go to Brazil for international duty.

It looks like a midfield three will continue despite Kai Havertz's absence following his positive coronavirus test and the head coach's only decision is whether to rest Jorginho or N'Golo Kante.

If not expect the same set up as the 3-0 win over Rennes on Wednesday evening. If one is rested Mateo Kovacic may come in.

Speaking about the return to a 4-3-3 formation, Lampard said: "I think it does give a good balance to our team. There's a system where you always want to pick the right one but the players have to adjust as well. You need intelligent players to take information on board. We have that so we need to just keep working on it and be flexible where we need to be at times."

Up front the same three should continue, with Tammy Abraham's selflessness in the past week deserving more credit. Christian Pulisic remains hamstrung, so Abraham will be flanked by Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.

Chelsea team to face Sheffield United: Edouard Mendy; Reece James, Thiago Silva, Kurt Zouma, Ben Chilwell; Mateo Kovacic, N'Golo Kante, Mason Mount; Hakim Ziyech, Tammy Abraham, Timo Werner.
