Jorginho opens up on his 'challenge' at Chelsea following Maurizio Sarri's move to Juventus

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho is determined to show the fans what he is about at Stamford Bridge this season.

The 27-year-old followed former manager Maurizio Sarri from Napoli to Chelsea last summer, and had a mixed first season at the club. Sarri has since left to return to his home nation to take up a role at Serie A Juventus, and there was rumours that Jorginho would follow him again.

However, the player has said that he wants to make a name for himself and not to be always associated with his former coach.

"I was a little sad seeing people thinking I arrived here only because of the coach [Sarri]," Jorginho told Esporte Interativo (via @dumidrexel ) after the Super Cup against Liverpool. "I arrived here because of my hard work, my day to day work, my sacrifices.

Press conference with Frank Lampard after Chelsea's defeat to Liverpool in Super Cup

"It's a challenge for me to show the fans that thanks to my work it's why I got here.

"I want to take this opportunity to have a good season and also for my name to be recognized by Jorginho who plays for Chelsea, not Jorginho who only works with Sarri."

Jorginho has started the first two games under new head coach Frank Lampard, playing the full 120 minutes of the UEFA Super Cup defeat to Liverpool on Wednesday evening.

The Italian has another chance to impress in a Chelsea shirt when the Blues host Leicester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
