'Jorginho on loan' - Arsenal fans in meltdown amid talk of Thomas Partey to Chelsea transfer

Arsenal supporters have taken to social media to have their say on Chelsea's potential move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.

The Ghana international has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer, but there's talk that they could be pipped to a deal by their London rivals.

According to the Guardian, Partey is on the Blues' shortlist ahead of deadline day.

Arsenal vs Sheffield United preview

The report states that the west London outfit could look at alternatives to West Ham United's Declan Rice as they try to land a defensive midfielder before the transfer window closes.

Furthermore, it's claimed that one option could be Partey, who has a £45m release clause in his contract at Atletico.

Meanwhile, the Telegraph are reporting that Chelsea scouts have been watching Partey in recent months and he could be a replacement for Jorginho amid links to the Gunners and Paris Saint-Germain.

As expected, this transfer rumour has sparked a massive reaction from many Arsenal fans.

Judging by some of the responses, there's a theory emerging that if Partey was to join Chelsea, then it could allow Jorginho to make the switch to N5.

And it's safe to say not many fans are keen on the idea.

Take a look at what's been said on Twitter...

Speaking about late deals, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has pinpointed the key advantage he will have in negotiations on transfer deadline day.

“15 minutes late, it was!" he recalled when asked about his transfer to Arsenal. "I know the nerves, the stress and the uncertainty that generates so I’ve been in their shoes and probably that helps me a little bit to understand certain things when players feel like that.

“At some stage I thought it wasn’t going to happen and I had this gut feeling that somehow it has to happen. It’s the right thing for me and I was waiting for that opportunity for a long time and when that fax came through, even if it was 10-15 minutes late to the Premier League, I was so happy and relieved."
