Jorginho drops Instagram hint over Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea team selection vs Everton

Chelsea will be looking to extend their unbeaten start to life under head coach Thomas Tuchel to 11 matches when they lock horns with Everton at Stamford Bridge this evening.

The Blues, who were beaten 1-0 by the Toffees in the reverse fixture at Goodison Park back in December, continued their fine start to life under the German on Thursday evening, defeating Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield.

Mason Mount netted the only goal of the game shortly before half time to seal an impressive away win for the Blues, ending a run of two successive league draws in the process.

Having got the better of the reigning Premier League title holders last time out, Chelsea will be looking to build upon that result against Everton this evening, in a contest that could go an awfully long way in deciding the race for the top-four. Should Tuchel's side win this evening, they will open up a four point gap on Everton, ensuring they remain in the top-four.

Should they suffer their first defeat of the Tuchel era, however, they could find themselves in sixth place, should West Ham United beat Leeds United later this evening.

With the games continuing to come think and fast, Tuchel may wish to make changes this evening in an effort to keep his squad fresh and injury free, with, as things stand, the club currently without any injury troubles.

During his first few weeks in west London, Tuchel has not been afraid to make tough decisions, leaving big-name stars out of the team, especially at both left-back and in midfield. Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso have regularly interchanged on the left-side whilst Mateo Kovacic, N'Golo Kante and Jorginho have all battled it out for places in the two central-midfield roles.

Against Liverpool, Tuchel elected to name Jorginho and Kante as a paring, leaving Croatian star Kovacic on the bench and out of the starting line-up in the Premier League for the first time during his tenure.

With Jorginho having assisted Kante so well against Liverpool, Tuchel will most probably be reluctant to disrupt their relationship against Carlo Ancelotti's side.

And judging by Jorginho's social media activity, that could well be the case.

Taking to Instagram, the Italy international has posted a fixture advertisement graphic, displaying himself, the fixture and the kick-off time, suggesting that he is very much looking forward to the contest and could be in line to start for the second Premier League game in succession.

Interestingly, several other members of Chelsea's squad have done the same when starting this season, including Mount, who is almost certain to retain his place in the team this evening following his heroics against Liverpool.

However, it should be noted that other players have done this in the past when only named on the substitutes bench and not in the starting XI.

Since Tuchel succeeded Frank Lampard in the closing stages of January, Jorginho has started six of the eight league games the former Paris Saint-Germain chief has been in charge of.

In total this season, the former Napoli man has racked up 26 appearances, netting six goals.
