Jorginho and Maurizio Sarri 'not spoken in a year' amid Chelsea exit links

Jorginho followed Maurizio Sarri to Chelsea in 2018 after the pair worked together successfully at Napoli.

The Italian tactician quit Stamford Bridge after one year however to take charge at Juventus.

It led to inevitable speculation linking his compatriot with yet another move that would allow him to team up with Sarri in Turin.

But despite Jorginho's ability to implement the coach's possession-based system the pair have not spoken since he left west London, reports the Athletic.

The 28-year-old struggled in his first year at Chelsea and was regularly seen as the scapegoat for their poor form such was his relationship with Sarri.

But he is understood to be a huge admirer of Frank Lampard and has no desire to quit the Premier League club.

That is despite the growing competition for his place in the Blues midfield.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been injured for much of the season while youngster Billy Gilmour added his name to the mix with some excellent performances before the season's postponement in March.

Nevertheless Jorginho has been a regular, making 23 Premier League starts and 33 in all competitions.

Chelsea have already invested in Ajax forward Hakim Ziyech while it is understood that Timo Werner will also join, although nothing is yet confirmed.

Several players may be ushered out of Stamford Bridge as Lampard looks to finally shape his squad following a transfer ban last summer.

But Juventus are not thought to be keen on splashing the cash on Jorginho.

They have been hit by the coronavirus pandemic, as have many clubs around Europe, which has stretched their finances.
