Super agent Jorge Mendes was reportedly at Manchester United's training ground to finalise a deal on Wednesday.
Mendes is said to have visited Carrington for a meeting with Ed Woodward and other United chiefs, as a deal for Monaco wonderkid Hannibal Mejbri draws closer.
A deal is reported to have been agreed between United and Monaco with a fee of around £9million.
But Mendes flew into Manchester on Wednesday and held talks with club bosses to ensure that the agreement was right for Mejbri.
Ed Woodward and Matt Judge, the men who act as United's top transfer negotiators, met with Mendes to talk agreements.
RMC reported on Wednesday that United and Monaco had done their side of the deal and that representatives were due to hold the meeting - claims which have been reiterated by the Daily Mail.
It was claimed by L'Equipe that both Arsenal and Bayern Munich were also interested in the player.
A medical is expected to take place on Thursday with a view to the deal being confirmed at the end of the week.
Mejbri is under youth contract with Monaco until the summer of 2021.
However, his family are believed to have fallen out with the board of the Ligue 1 club and were trying to push for a move away.
Monaco are said to be putting their faith in another youth player who signed a youth contract recently called Enzo Millot.
