Jorge Masvidal has taken a dig at Conor McGregor during a recent fan Q&A on Twitter, stating he doesn't think the Irishman could "afford" his 'BMF' title.
Masvidal won the celebratory belt against Nate Diaz at UFC 244 in November 2019. The fight was stopped when the cageside doctor deemed Diaz unable to continue due to a large cut above his eye.
It's unclear what the UFC will do with Masvidal's symbolic title, but last year McGregor expressed his desire to get his hands on the belt.
“I would like that bad motherf****** title, that belt, then I’d like the gold. For me, the gold has a bit more significance to it, especially since the way the ‘BMF’ fight finished," McGregor said before his fight with Donald Cerrone.
This has led to interest in a fight between Masvidal and McGregor. Masvidal hosted a Q&A on Twitter in which he was asked about a fight with McGregor for the title.
The user wrote: "If Conor says he wants the bmf belt on line if he has to fight you. Would you agree?
"I don’t think he can afford it," Masvidal replied.
McGregor is set to be sidelined for a year after suffering a broken tibia earlier this month against Dustin Poirier. It was the Irishman's second defeat on the bounce after being knocked out by Poirier in January.
Malki Kawa, the manager of Masvidal, also weighed in on a hypothetical matchup between Masvidal and McGregor.
"Guys, stop this. Masvidal is too big for him, that’s why Dana White never liked this fight," Kawa wrote on Twitter.

UFC president White has said in the past that Masvidal, who has fought at welterweight since 2015, is too big for McGregor who typically competes at 155-pounds.
"There's plenty of fights for him (Masvidal) in his weight division without Conor. He's too big for Conor. [McGregor] doesn't belong in 170," White told TMZ in 2019.
"[Conor] has the balls to fight at 170, but he doesn't belong there."
Masvidal is without a win since defeating Diaz to win the BMF belt. Since then 'Gamebred' has fallen short on two occasions to Kamaru Usman for the UFC welterweight title, losing a decision last July and being knocked out by Usman in April.
And on a fight with McGregor, Masvidal told reporters before UFC 244: "I'll f*** that little guy up, man. He's a f***ing midget. Dana White, president of this m*********ing company said that I'm too much man for him.
"I get why people want to see him hurt for the stunts he's been pulling. But he don't want this s***. He's just talking so that he gets his name out there," Masvidal said.
