Jorge Masvidal's UFC earnings prove Jake Paul is right about $5million offer

Jorge Masvidal 's recent fight purses have proved that a $5million offer to fight Jake Paul would be the UFC star's biggest payday to date

Paul called out Masvidal and other UFC fighters such as Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz following his knockout win against Tyron Woodley last weekend.

"Masvidal is like, ‘I only fight the best people or I fight for money, and you’re neither one of those'. Masvidal, I’ve got an offer for you right now: $5 million guarantee, plus percentage of pay-per-views," he said.

“That’s the most you would have ever made in a fight, ever. So now you can’t say, ‘I either fight the best, or I fight for money.’ ... Let’s make it happen.”

But Masvidal would later reply to Paul with a counter-offer of $20 million plus a pay-per-view percentage of the potential fight.

"The UFC isn’t gonna let me go for chump change. Make that 20 guaranteed plus PPV and I’m sure the UFC will be ok with it as long as I break them off their fee and then I’ll gladly break your face," he said.

Masvidal was paid $500,000 to show for his last fight against Kamaru Usman at UFC 261, also taking home a $300,000 share of the pay-per-view sales for his knockout loss.

'Gamebred' was also paid $500,000 for his first bout with Usman in April of last year and took home a percentage of the estimated 900,000 buys the event sold on pay-per-view.

His fights with Usman aren't the only time Masvidal has taken home big paydays in the UFC, also being paid six figures for his 2019 fight with Nate Diaz.

But Paul's offer of seven figures plus pay-per-view points for a potential fight would mark the biggest payday of Masvidal's lengthy fighting career.

Masvidal was plagued by frequent split decision losses during his UFC career but catapulted his way into stardom after knocking out Darren Till at UFC London in 2019.

The fan favourite then broke a record for the fastest knockout in UFC history by stopping Ben Askren in just five seconds with a devastating flying knee.

Masvidal won the symbolic 'BMF' title against Diaz in his next fight, but has since dropped consecutive losses to pound-for-pound No.1 Usman.

And he suggested that Paul should fight him in the UFC with a ruleset that would only allow the pair to box.

"If the ufc still says no because the money is still too low then come over to the ufc, sign a 1 fight deal and we can stipulate I can only box in the cage," he said.

"If i do anything other than that I will forfeit my purse to you. Come on over and get paid and laid out."
