Jorge Masvidal on why he won’t fight Conor McGregor: UFC ‘doesn’t want a murder charge’

Jorge Masvidal’s next fight is a big one, as he’ll face Nate Diaz in the main event in UFC 244 at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 2, which has all the makings of being an incredible fight.

Masvidal and Diaz are both in New York City today for a UFC 244 press conference which starts at 7 p.m. ET.

But before that happened, Masvidal appeared on ESPN’s Get Up on Wednesday morning and was asked about a possible fight with Conor McGregor, which is something Dana White rightly shot down a few months ago, saying Masvidal is way to big physically for McGregor.

Masvidal agreed that he shouldn’t fight McGregor, saying:

“That fight, (Dana White) deemed it not good, because they don’t want a murder charge on them, so they’re not gonna allow that to happen, The president himself already said it, so I don’t want to go to jail for killing nobody. That’s not what I wanna do. I’m here to compete and beat people up. The president said that we can’t compete because I’m too much man. So that can’t happen. We’re different spectrums. He’s not going to allow that to happen.”

Masvidal’s star power has grown so much since his 5-second flying knee KO of Ben Askren and he’s having fun with these new media opportunities.

Here he is breaking down that win:

And yes, he’d absolutely destroy McGregor.

But this fight with Diaz is going to be special.
