Jorge Masvidal on potential fight with fellow BMF champ Justin Gaethje: ‘I would f*cking chop him up’

Jorge Masvidal is confident he’d reclaim his BMF title if he fought Justin Gaethje.

Masvidal won the inaugural BMF title with a third-round doctor’s stoppage TKO of Nate Diaz in November 2019. Masvidal never defended his belt, but the UFC decided to bring the title back after he retired.

Gaethje (25-4 MMA, 8-4 UFC) knocked out Masvidal’s teammate, Dustin Poirier, to claim the BMF title at UFC 291, and “Gamebred” is confident he’d hurt Gaethje if he got the opportunity to fight him.

“When I won the belt, Dana said it would be one of one, the belt is done, and there would be no defending it,” Masvidal told Lowkick MMA. “So there never was any talk about it, at least for me, but now I think the temperature on that theme has changed. They’re doing things a little different, and Justin is very good.

“The guy that he beat to get that belt is a f*cking stud, he’s a killer, Dustin Poirier. But if you put BMF against BMF, if you put me against Gaethje in there, I would break his f*cking eye orbital, and I would f*cking chop him up. Hopefully that can happen at some point.”

Gaethje will defend his BMF title against former featherweight champion Max Holloway (25-7 MMA, 21-7 UFC) at UFC 300 on April 13 from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Masvidal is rooting for Holloway to win.

“I think Max Holloway is one of the baddest motherf*ckers that ever lived,” Masvidal said. “That’s a dude that I f*cking salute. I love his style. I love his story. I love his beginnings. I love how humble of a person he is. I’m going obviously for Max all the way, but I think it’s going to be a f*cking great fight.”
