Jorge Masvidal coldly explained why his punches after KO were ‘super necessary’

Jorge Masvidal has never been a fighter who takes what others have to say about him lightly.

Remember that little moment after his fight in England when he got into it with another fighter during a live backstage interview? He gave Leon Edwards the ol’ “three piece and a soda,” which fans loved.

Masvidal continued bringing the pain Saturday night at UFC 239 when he needed just five seconds to knock out Ben Askren with a stunning flying knee right out of the gates.

Masvidal backed up that flying knee with two big punches to the head of Askren even though he was clearly knocked out.

Masvidal addressed those two punches after the fight and explained why he felt they were “super necessary,” mostly because of all the trash Askren talked leading up to the fight. He also added: “If I see him at Whole Foods I’m still going to slap that dude up.”

Here’s that KO, by the way:

Yup, that was definitely personal.
