Jorge Masvidal believes a fight between him and Conor McGregor would be 'one of the biggest in history'.
Masvidal is a possible opponent for the Dubliner if McGregor beats Donald Cerrone this weekend.
Speaking at a UFC media event on Thursday, the American said: "If me and Conor go in the Octagon, what happens? It's one of the biggest fights in history just by math proven what Conor's been doing.
"The last couple of fights I've had - the engagement, the PPVs, I broke record with ESPN. Obviously it's a formula for success.
"Somebody will always have the belt at 170lbs so it doesn't really matter if it's now or not.
"Conor's a bigger fight. If Conor doesn't do his job [against Cerrone] or Conor doesn't want to fight after his fight then we're going to take Usman's head off."
Masvidal admitted that he wants a big payday no matter who he fights next.
He added: "I don't know what his [McGregor] plans are at the end of the day. Obviously I want paychecks. I've been fighting 16 years, it's going to 17 this year, so I want to get the most money possible.
"I have children to take care of. I have myself to take care of. I got many things to do so I got to make sure the bank account well padded."
