Jorge Grant bemoans lack of opportunities at Nottingham Forest following Lincoln move

Jorge Grant hopes his move to Lincoln City will provide him with a platform on which to showcase his abilities.

The midfielder has completed his departure from Nottingham Forest, having agreed a deal with the League One newboys to bring an end to a five-year stay on Trentside.

Despite being at the club since 2014, Grant has endured a largely frustrating time on Trentside, making just eight starts along with 12 appearances off the bench before being farmed out on loan for the last three seasons.

And Grant says that his move to Sincil Bank will give him the opportunity to settle down and showcase his abilities, which he feels were unfulfilled at the City Ground.

“Over the last two or three years I’ve not really had the opportunity to show my qualities at Forest and have had a few loans, so I’m looking forward to showing the fans what I can do on the pitch,” he told the Imps website.

During his successful spell at Notts County, Grant enjoyed playing against the Imps, netting in both games during the 2017/18 season, and the former Nike Academy graduate says he’s relishing the opportunity of calling Sincil Bank home.

“I remember scoring when I played here previously, it’s a really good place to play.

"I remember the fans were great that day, so I’m looking forward to playing in front of them.”

Grant reserved special praise for boss Danny Cowley and his assistant Nicky, who convinced him to make the move across the East Midlands to a club riding the crest of a wave after winning promotion in May.

“Obviously I’m delighted to be here,” said the creative midfielder.

“I had spoken to the managers two or three times and they attracted me to the football club.

“I’ve looked from a distance over the last two or three years how things have gone and (the club) have taken a couple of steps up from where they were, and I’m really excited to be here."

Having spent the first half of last season at Luton in the third tier before returning to Forest, Grant believes he can see some similarities between the two clubs, with the Hatters eventually going on to secure the title and a place in the Championship back in May.

“Yeah, I was there at the start of the season with Luton and they adapted quite well,” he said.

“I see similarities in both Lincoln and Luton, so I’m hopeful that we can make the same step up,” he added.
