Jorge Grant 'agrees' Hearts transfer from Peterborough as Robbie Neilson continues recruitment drive

Robbie Neilson looks set to land Jorge Grant with the midfielder agreeing to join Hearts after Peterborough accepted an offer from the capital club, according to a report.

Alan Forrest, Kye Rowles and Lewis Neilson have already arrived at the club and the trio look set to be joined by the 27-year-old who will become the latest signing to arrive so far this summer. He has already been in Edinburgh for a tour of Tynecastle and the training complex after the two clubs agreed on a fee well below the English League One club’s £750,000 release clause.

Posh chief Barry Fry revealed he reluctantly accepted a smaller offer as it was a great opportunity for the midfielder in his career with guaranteed European group stage football arriving in Gorgie. The Jambos enter the Europa League play-off round and know if they suffer defeat in the two-legged tie that they will drop into the Conference League proper.

Negotiations over a move from the EFL to Scotland's top flight are said to have been swift and successful according to Football Scotland, who say the move is edging closer and closer.

Another name who looks set to return to the club is ever-present Alex Cochrane who featured 40 times while on loan last season from Brighton.

He played a major role in Neilson's men securing third spot in the Premiership behind Celtic and Rangers and a place in the Scottish Cup Final.

Hearts now look 'set to win the race' by paying a fee to land the 22-year-old - despite interest from English trio QPR, Coventry and Reading.

Lawrence Shankland is another possibility from Belgian side Beerschot with Neilson keen on a reunion with his former Dundee United striker.
