Jordy Hurdes: Man posts ecstasy warning video after 'life-changing' reaction to party drug

A man has posted a video warning of the dangers of ecstasy after the party drug purportedly left him plagued by involuntary muscle spasms and a severe stutter.

Jordy Hurdes’ message on Facebook  - in which he refers to ecstasy tablets as ‘pingas’ - shows the 20-year-old jerking violently and stammering.

“Doctors can’t believe I’m still alive," he said.

"I’m so grateful I’m still here. It’s a waiting game at the moment as to whether I’ll have permanent jerking… and with my stutter. I’m not sure whether it will get better any time soon.”

An earlier Facebook post said Jordy had been in hospital “the past few days” and that he had “the possibility of a permanent stutter and twitch due to nerve or brain damage”.

He did not say how many of the pills he had taken, or whether he had taken other drugs.

Jordy says the purpose of his video is to raise awareness, to warn others who may be tempted by the party drug to stay away.

He says: “Please guys, don’t get sucked in. It all seems like fun and games and a $25 pill, but it’s not worth it… So be the stronger person and say no to drugs. Do it for me, please guys.”

The video has been shared almost 70,000 times and has attracted 1.7 million views.

He posted a status the next day saying “I'm so glad I have gotten the awareness out and hopefully have saved many people's lives. I will keep everyone posted with my journey. Love you all”.
