Jordi Alba branded a 'disgrace' by Man Utd fans for what he did at Old Trafford

Manchester United fans have hit out at Jordi Alba over his antics during Barcelona's win at Old Trafford.

An own-goal from Luke Shaw secured a first leg lead for Barcelona in their Champions League quarter-final.

Ahead of the clash, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had warned his players over Barca's dirty tricks and they were in full force at Old Trafford.

As Ashley Young prepared to take a throw-in during the first half, Barca left-back Alba ran into the United skipper's arm before falling onto the floor.

The incident happed right in front of the linesman but Young avoided a booking as Alba was dragged back to his feet.

United's fans unsurprisingly lambasted the Spaniard over his theatrics, in what seemed an obvious attempt to get an opponent sent off.

What Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said to Lionel Messi after Man Utd defeat to Barcelona

Despite an impressive second-half performance, United failed to really test Marc-Andre ter Stegen as Barca took a 1-0 lead back to the Nou Camp.

Speaking on his side's victory, Alba said: "We have perfectly controlled every single aspect of the game.

"We had most of the ball and played well in the air, where they are so powerful and kept balance to avoid their counterattacks.

"We can be happy as it is not easy to win here. We have to play the second leg but now we have the lead."

Boss Ernesto Valverde added: "This was a tough, complicated contest. We dominated in spells but their pressure was high and difficult to break.

"We know it's a tight result. There is a second game to come, we know they can react away from home and they did well against PSG."
