A motorcyclist has died following a crash in Co Antrim on Monday night.
The single-vehicle road traffic collision happened on Shore Road, Jordanstown at around 11.10pm on July 19.
Police attended the scene, along with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, where the male rider of a black Suzuki motorbike was pronounced dead.
A PSNI spokesperson added: "Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have captured it on their dash cam, is asked to call police on 101, quoting reference number 2383 of 19/07/21."
It's understood the victim wasn't from the local area and that the crash occurred while he was on his way home from work.
East Antrim UUP MLA John Stewart said he was shocked and saddened to hear the tragic news.
"My thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of the victim at this very difficult time," he added.
DUP Councillor Mark Cooper said: "I offer my condolences to the family of this man. This latest fatality on our roads is a shock for everyone and very sad news indeed."
Alliance Councillor Tom Campbell also expressed his sadness on behalf of the local community following the tragedy.
“It is shocking that someone has lost their life, under such devastating circumstances. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of the motorcyclist,” Alderman Campbell said.
“This will come as a real shock to our community, who will be rightly saddened by the news of another life lost needlessly on our roads.
“I urge anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have information, to contact the PSNI on 101.”
The route was shut in both directions between Newtownabbey and Carrickfergus, but reopened just before 6am on Tuesday morning.
Roads and traffic monitoring service Inrix first reported the crash after midnight. Police said the road was likely to remain closed for some time.
At the time of the incident, a PSNI spokesperson said: "Motorists are advised that the Shore Road, Jordanstown is currently closed due to a serious road traffic collision. Diversions are in place. Please seek an alternative route for your journey."
