Jordanian ministers submitted their resignation ahead of a government reshuffle. This will be the fourth reshuffle since Bisher al-Khasawneh became prime minister in October 2020.
The reshuffle is expected to include the ministries of information, justice and legal affairs, as well as service ministries, while the two vice presidents and the sovereign ministries will not be affected, informed official sources said.
King Abdullah II appointed Khasawneh last year to restore public trust over the handling of the coronavirus health crisis and defuse anger over successive governments’ failure to deliver on pledges of improving the economy and curbing corruption.
According to sources, the new ministers will most probably be sworn in on Tuesday.
The reshuffle comes almost one month ahead of the National Assembly’s ordinary session, scheduled for November 15.
Later this year, the parliament will discuss and approve bills on constitutional amendments, elections and parties, in addition to the kingdom’s general budget for 2022.
