Jordan Spieth now a Wheaties cover athlete

IRVING, Texas _ Jordan Spieth's name adorns the Wall of Champions at Colonial Country Club, but now he's a Breakfast of Champion.

Spieth debuted his likeness on a Wheaties cereal box Tuesday at the AT&T Byron Nelson.

"Actually found a new partner in Wheaties," Spieth said. "I'm going to be on the cover of four million Wheaties boxes later this year, which is really cool _ Breakfast of Champions."

The limited-edition Wheaties box will be available in October.

"You grow up seeing your favorite athletes on these boxes," said Spieth, recalling trips to the grocery store with his mom. "I'd always want to see who was on the cover, and to actually be one is a pretty special dream come true."

Golf legends Byron Nelson, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods have also been on the iconic orange boxes.

"It's an honor in the fact that Wheaties looks for athletes that conduct themselves in the right way on and off field or course," Spieth said, "and I kind of thank them for including me in that category and hopefully I can continue to push towards the level of those athletes on the cover."

Nelson's widow, Peggy Nelson, brought a Wheaties box with Byron on the cover. Cereal maker General Mills Inc., had Byron Nelson's picture on the box in 1939 or '40, spokesman Mike Siemienas said.

"I should have worked out before all these pictures," Spieth added.
