Jordan Rossiter reveals Rangers injury debt as former Liverpool kid opens up on signing 'honour'

Former Rangers star Jordan Rossiter has explained his debt to Ibrox physio Steve Walker for diagnosing the persistent injury problem that blighted his spell at the club.

The Scouser, who arrived from Liverpool to much fanfare in 2016, only made 16 appearances in his four year spell as he struggled to get fit under Mark Warbutron and Pedro Caixinha.

He was subsequently loaned out to Bury and Fleetwood when Steven Gerrard decided the 23-year-old wasn't part of his long term plans.

And while the midfielder has now departed Glasgow for good, he has thanked the supporters for getting behind him and singled out the club's medical staff in pinpointing the complex issue that was plaguing his career.

Rossiter told The Scottish Sun : "I was close to being back fit when I pulled up again. It kept happening.

"It always seemed to be one step forward and then two steps back.

"I had a lot of niggles everywhere, but they just couldn't get to the bottom of it.

"It went on for a long time and it was really difficult. I was a young lad living away from home for the first time.

"It was lonely at times, but the Rangers supporters were brilliant with me.

"In the end the physio, Steve Walker, got to the bottom of it for me in my second season there.

"It turned out my back was causing the muscle problems in my legs.

"I had two procedures on my back to settle everything down.

"Then I had to do a lot of work on my core to build up strength. I've not had a muscle injury since. I owe Steve a lot."

While Rossiter would have liked to offered more on the pitch in Scotland, he looks back glowingly on his decision to sign.

He said: "I'll always look back on my time there with pride. It was an honour to represent a club like Rangers.
