On-loan Hearts winger Jordan Roberts has returned to the club early after suffering a season-ending injury.
The former Inverness wide man moved to spend the second half of the season at Motherwell shortly after Robbie Neilson brought Gary Mackay-Steven to Tynecastle.
But the Steelmen have announced a knee injury sustained earlier this month in a win over St Mirren, while not serious, will leave him out for the final month of the Premiership campaign.
Roberts said: “I’m gutted the remainder of my season is done due to injury. I throughly enjoyed my time at Motherwell.
“Thank you for the love and support. I wish the boys and club the best for the remainder of the season.”
Roberts didn't quite win over fans of the Gorgie side in the first half of the season but did make an impact upon his move to Lanarkshire and his experience in the Premiership could stand him in good stead for next term.
His most notable contribution was a goal against Hearts' Edinburgh rivals Hibs in a 2-0 win.
In all he made eight appearances for the Fir Park club, scoring three goals as the club successfully avoided being sucked into a relegation battle and progressed to the quarter finals of the Scottish Cup.
Roberts has another year left on his Jambos contract after becoming one of Championship-winning boss Neilson's first signings since returning to the club in the summer.
