Jordan Pickford to meet with Everton bosses after 'incident' on night out in Sunderland

Jordan Pickford is set to meet with Everton FC bosses today at the club's training headquarters to discuss a video which appeared to show him involved in an altercations outside a pub.

The film appeared to show the Everton and England keeper involved in a fracas outside a pub in Sunderland during the early hours of Monday morning, following a night out with pals  in his home town.

There are reports that Pickford might have reacted after being teased by Newcastle fans, and that some drinkers made comments about his  fiancée Megan Davison.

A spokesman for the ambulance service has told the ECHO that although they were called out to the incident they were later asked to stand down and did not attend.

They are no reports of any serious injuries but police have said they are investigating the incident.

Mail Online has now reported that Pickford is set to discuss the matter with Everton head coach Marco Silva and director of football Marcel Brands during a meeting at training base Finch Farm today.

Northumbria Police have confirmed they are investigating the matter. A spokesman for Northumbria Police  said: "At 12:19am (Monday), police received a report of a disturbance involving a large group of individuals on Tunstall Road, Sunderland.  Enquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and locate those involved.

"Nobody is believed to have been seriously injured and no arrests have been made."

Everton FC have also released a comment which read: "The Club has been made aware of an alleged incident involving one of our players and we are looking into the matter."

Pickford joined the blues from his hometown club Sunderland for around £30m in the summer of 2017. The 25-year-old rose to national prominence last summer when he played a starring role for England as they went all the way to the World Cup semi-finals before being defeated by Croatia.

Pickford had been part of the Everton team that eased past West Ham United at the London Stadium on Saturday evening.
