Jordan Pickford return confirmed by Carlo Ancelotti after Everton goalkeeper dropped against Newcastle

Carlo Ancelotti says Jordan Pickford will return to the starting line-up for next weekend’s game with Manchester United.

Pickford has been dropped to the bench for today’s match with Newcastle United and Robin Olsen takes his place in the starting line-up.

Ancelotti, though, has tried to play down the significance of Pickford’s omission from a Premier League XI for the first time in his Everton career, saying he is simply ‘resting’ the 26-year-old.

Ancelotti said: “There is no technical reason, I wanted to give him a rest for this game.

“[And] give the opportunity to Olsen to have minutes.  Jordan will be back for the next game against United.”

Pickford is on the bench for this afternoon’s game.  Jonas Lossl has travelled with the squad and is taking part in the warm-ups but is not in the matchday 18.
