I think the effect on Jordan Pickford seeing competition come in for his place will be the same as every other player across the squad.
Lucas Digne won Player of the Season in his first season, but last term everyone struggled a bit. We've brought in a left back now that Leighton Baines has gone to push him a bit and it's raised his game.
Tom Davies at the weekend put in his best performance in a blue shirt for a long while, and I think that's because he had to raise his levels. He knows if his standard drops he won't be in the team and he's got to work 100% in training.
We've brought in many midfielders in this window and that's risen Tom's game and hopefully he can continue that, but it's a situation happening all around the pitch.
With Jordan, he's England's No.1, and so whenever he makes a mistake it does get highlighted.
The arrival of Robin Olsen on loan gives an opportunity for him to focus on his own game more, to know that if he does make a mistake there's someone to step in and take his place.
You don't like chopping and changing goalkeepers, but bringing one in with a bit of experience and a bit of calmness will hopefully up his game a little bit.
When he goes away on international duty, he's done well for England in the past and hopefully he can get two or three games and come back with more confidence in his ability.
I thought in the first game of this season against Tottenham, that was Jordan of old. He made some great saves and kept us in the game, but since then he's lost his concentration with a few errors.
Carlo's now brought in a guy to make sure Jordan has to up his game. He's got to up his level to that he had when he first joined the club.
Mistakes, so far, haven't really hurt us. But when the season gets going and teams find out our style of play a bit more, we need a solid goalkeeper behind you to keep you in the game.
They're the levels we expect from Jordan, and that's what he will expect from himself. With Carlo bringing in another goalkeeper to push him, it's hopefully going to be to his benefit.
