Jordan Nixon’s game-winner against Iowa State was wild, but her postgame interview was even better

March is certainly the month of madness — at least on the basketball court. And we got a bit of a taste of that on Wednesday night when Texas A&M played Iowa State in the women’s NCAA tournament.

This was easily the best game of the tournament so far. It looked like we were primed for an upset with Iowa State (7) leading the entire way through regulation against Texas A&M (2). But A&M clawed back into the game, forced overtime and even took their first lead before Iowa State tied it at 82 at the end.

But then, Jordan Nixon happened. Iowa State misses on a chance to put them up 84-82, Nixon grabs the rebound, she goes the length of the floor and the rest is history.

Watch.

What. A. Play. Game-winner. Jordan Nixon. Her timing on the layup was so perfect. It’s unbelievable.

But what made the moment even more surreal was her incredibly emotional interview after the game. She gave so much praise to the team around her.

“I say it all the time. And it really just goes back to trust. They trust me. They trust me to make plays. They trust me to lead this team. Win, lose or draw, every single person on that bench is behind me. And it just makes these moments that much more special.”

What an incredible moment. There was more! She spoke about how resilient her team is and how proud she was.

“We keep fighting. This team is so resilient. I said it, like, two days ago, I’ll say it again, I’ll say it all season. We never say die. We never say die. And I think you saw that tonight.”

That just makes you want to run through a wall. What an interview. What a play. What a shot.
