Jordan Morris to Swansea City latest as medical booked ahead of Nottingham Forest FA Cup 4th round tie

Jordan Morris is expected to undergo a medical with Swansea City on Friday.

On Wednesday, the United States Men's National Team confirmed Morris had been granted permission to leave their training camp in Florida to complete his switch to the Swans.

Part of a statement read: "New York City FC goalkeeper Sean Johnson and Seattle Sounders FC forward Jordan Morris have departed the USMNT training camp in Bradenton, Fla. No additional players will be added to the roster.

"Morris received permission to depart camp from head coach Gregg Berhalter."

The 26-year-old has arrived in Swansea ahead of a loan move to the Liberty Stadium from Seattle Sounders until the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

And he is poised to become the club's third signing of the January transfer window following the acquisitions of goalkeeper Ben Hamer from Huddersfield Town and midfielder Conor Hourihane from Aston Villa.

Speaking about the American, Steve Cooper said: "It’s not quite done yet but it's in the process of getting done.

"It’s taking a little longer than we’d have liked, basically down to logistics more than anything else, but it's one that when it finally gets done we’ll be really pleased.

"A little bit cautious at the moment because as you know, until they sign and you get them out training and playing, it's never quite done, but it’s close to being done and it’ll be a good one when it is."

Swansea will not pay a loan fee for the American attacker, although they will pay a significant proportion of his wages.

Cooper's side will have the option to make the loan move permanent in the summer.

Hourihane is available to make his Swansea debut against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup this weekend, although Morris may not be signed in time to feature in the fourth round contest at the Liberty Stadium.

The January transfer window closes at 11pm on Monday, February 1.
