King Abdullah II of Jordan on Thursday approved a reshuffle in the government of Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, which saw the appointment of a former palace advisor as finance minister to push forward for economic reforms.
The reshuffle was Razzaz’s fourth since taking office almost a year and a half ago. It affected 11 ministries in all but left other key incumbents, notably the foreign affairs and interior ministers, unchanged.
The Royal Decree approved the appointment of 11 ministers as following: Muhyiddine Touq as Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Tayseer Nueimi as Minister of Education, Saleh Kharabsheh as Minister of Environment, Ibrahim Shahahdeh as Minister of Agriculture, Mohamad Ississ as Minister of Finance, Amjad Adaileh as Minister of State for Media Affairs, Mohammad Khalaileh as Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Basim Tweissi as Minister of Culture, Fares Braizat as Minister of Youtt, Wissam Rabadi as Minister of Planning and International Cooperation and Khalid Saif as Minister of Transport.
The ministers were sworn in before King Abdullah at Al Husseiniya Palace, according to Petra.
Al Ississ, who had been serving as planning minister, will lead a team overseeing the three-year economic programme agreed with the International Monetary Fund, Reuters reported.
