Jordan Love Opens Up About the Most Difficult Moment He Had Under Aaron Rodgers

Packers quarterback Jordan Love has been no stranger to waiting his turn since entering the NFL.

The former first-round pick was always perceived as the future starter for the Packers. That is until former franchise signal-caller Aaron Rodgers signed a contract extension last offseason that made him the highest-paid quarterback in NFL history.

That moment, where Rodgers appeared to be destined to stay in Green Bay until the end of his career, was the toughest moment for Love as he waited his turn.

“I’ll admit, I think the hardest time was when he re-signed the contract last year,” Love told the media on Wednesday. “It was kinda like, ‘OK, well where do we go from here? What do I do?’ And I think I sat back, thought to myself and just came back with the approach like ‘Let’s just go ball out any opportunity I get. I’m gonna get preseason and who knows what happens after that, so just grow and try and become the best version of myself, and I can’t really control what happens after that, so let it play out.’”

Despite the adversity Love faced of waiting behind Rodgers, he is still appreciative of his time backing up an all-time great.

“We talked after the trade,” Love said. “Kind of just, ‘Wish you the best going forward.’ He wished me the best and is always there for me if I need anything, if I have any questions or anything. I’m always just grateful to be around him and for the time I had with him, to be able to learn and be behind him. It’s very grateful for me.”

Now with his time waiting in the rearview mirror, it’s time for Love to seize the reigns and see if he has what it takes to be the new franchise quarterback in Green Bay.
