Jordan Jones' Wigan loan recall confirmed by Kilmarnock

Jordan Jones has been recalled from his Kilmarnock loan by Wigan.

Last week it emerged that the Lactics had made a late move on deadline day to take the winger back to the DW Stadium.

However, both clubs and the player were made to wait on the recall being ratified by the relevant football authorities.

On Friday, Wigan CEO Mal Brannigan appeared to tell the press that while Shaun Maloney wanted Jones back at the club, the administration for the deal had not gone through on time and that the player would remain in Scotland.

Now, the Rugby Park club have finally announced that the Northern Ireland international has returned to the Championship side.

A Killie statement reads: "Kilmarnock Football Club can confirm that Wigan Athletic have recalled Jordan Jones from his loan at Rugby Park.

"Late last Tuesday evening, the club was made aware that Wigan intended to recall the Northern Ireland international. Following completion of paperwork between Kilmarnock and the Scottish FA, Jones returns to The Latics for the remainder of the campaign.

"The winger departs having made 12 league appearances this season, in addition to having scored a late winner in the Scottish Cup Fourth Round tie against Dumbarton last month.

"The club would like to thank Jordan for his efforts and wish him the best of luck for the future."

The former Rangers attacker, 28, will now work with new boss Maloney as Wigan aim to remain in the Championship.

They make the short trip to Blackburn tonight for an 8pm kick-off at Ewood Park.

As well as Jones departing Killie, Derek McInnes also lost Kyle Lafferty and Oli Shaw on deadline day.

The former was released following a disciplinary issue at the Ayrshire club.

Shaw was sold for an undisclosed fee to Barnsley in League One.
