Jordan Jones transfer chase heats up as Rangers winger wanted by Stoke and Middlesbrough

Stoke City and Middlesbrough will both make moves to land Jordan Jones - if Rangers let him out on-loan.

Blackburn are also keen but will face competition from their Championship rivals if Steven Gerrard decides the Northern Ireland international can leave on a temporary basis.

Jones is currently training with the Light Blues at their Dubai camp.

Stoke boss Michael O’Neill knows Jones well because he is also his international manager.

He would love to the Rangers man to the Potteries to aid their fight for survival in the English Championship.

Jones' former club Middlesbrough are also keen.

They have already signed Patrick Roberts on-loan from Norwich City but want to add another winger in this window.

The 25-year-old came through the ranks at the Riverside although it wasn’t until he moved to Scotland and Kilmarnock in 2016 that he really started to make his name.

Gerrard was suitable impressed to sign him on a pre-contract in the summer.

Jones made an early impression in the early Europa League games and domestically but his season stalled after he suffered an injury in the defeat to Celtic that left him side-lined until the end of last year.

Rangers have a lot of domestic and European commitments and it is not clear whether or not Gerrard would want the winger to go out.

Rangers are trying to clear more of their fringe players.

Andy King has returned to Leicester City and Jamie Murphy, Matt Polster, Greg Docherty and Glenn Middleton all available to go out on loan.

Rangers are also keen on Stoke City striker Tyrese Campbell, who is also attracting interest from rivals Celtic.
