Jordan Jones reveals Rangers exit pep talk from Steven Gerrard as he aims to impress two bosses in Sunderland

Jordan Jones has moved to Sunderland and is looking to impress two managers – Lee Johnson and Steven Gerrard.

The Northern Irish international completed his loan from Rangers to the League One promotion pushers last night.

Gerrard was sympathetic to his lack of action with the Premiership leaders and opened the door for him to go out and get games with the Black Cats between now and the end of the season.

The winger said: “I can’t speak highly enough of the Rangers manager. I have nothing but respect for the manager and he has been great to me.

“He told me to get myself out and back enjoying my football again and we’ll see what position we’re in come the summer.

“I am grateful to Rangers and Sunderland for making it happen.

“I haven’t had a lot of football over the last 18 months. I am 26 now and I am approaching what is my prime.

“Now it is up to me to make my mark.

“I am in a position where I have to go on this loan to impress for Sunderland and Rangers.”
