Jordan Jones 'over the moon' after winger joins ex-Sunderland reunion at Wigan

Wigan Athletic have signed Rangers winger Jordan Jones on a three-year deal.

The former Sunderland loanee was briefly linked with a move back to the Stadium of Light this summer but has joined former Black Cats Max Power and Charlie Wyke at the DW Stadium.

The Northern-Ireland international fell out of favour at Rangers after breaking Covid-19 regulations earlier last season.

Jones joined Sunderland at the end of the January transfer window and scored three goals in 20 appearances for Lee Johnson's side.

The winger was part of the Black Cats side that reached the Papa John's Trophy final but missed out on the game against Tranmere Rovers with an injury.

Jones said: "I’m over the moon – the move has been in the pipeline for a few weeks so I’m just thankful to be here and I cannot wait to get started and kick on.

“I spoke to the manager and a few of the players, and it seems there is such a positive vibe around the place at the minute - it’s something that I want to be a part of.

“They’ve got a clear vision with how they want to play football; playing attacking football and getting as many results as we can."

Jones is set to be involved in Wigan's squad for the trip to the Stadium of Light this weekend.
