Jordan Jones loan move to Sunderland as Rangers winger praises Steven Gerrard

Jordan Jones has heaped praise on Rangers boss Steven Gerrard after being loaned out to Sunderland.

The Northern Ireland winger completed his move to the League One promotion hopefuls on Friday night.

It has been a frustrating season so far for Jones who has struggled for game time at Ibrox.

He also had to serve a heavy seven-match ban for breaching Covid-19 regulations.

Now Jones is hoping to make his mark on the pitch with Sunderland, while also doing enough to impress Rangers boss Gerrard back in Glasgow.

“I can’t speak highly enough of the Rangers manager. I have nothing but respect for the manager and he has been great to me," Jones said.

“He told me to get myself out and back enjoying my football again and we’ll see what position we’re in come the summer.

“I am grateful to Rangers and Sunderland for making it happen.

“I haven’t had a lot of football over the last 18 months. I am 26 now and I am approaching what is my prime.

“Now it is up to me to make my mark.

“I am in a position where I have to go on this loan to impress for Sunderland and Rangers.”
