Jordan Jones leaves Rangers on loan as winger completes Sunderland switch

Rangers winger Jordan Jones has completed his move to Sunderland.

The Northern Ireland international joins the League One outfit on loan until the end of the season.

Jones has had a frustrating time at Rangers having picked up an injury early in his Ibrox career before breaching Covid-19 protocols earlier this season.

Jones was banned for seven games after attending a party along with Rangers team-mate George Edmundson after their side had beat Kilmarnock.

The 26-year-old has made just four appearances for Rangers this season, scoring his only goal in the 5-1 win over Motherwell in September.

He’s made just 19 appearances in total since joining Steven Gerrard’s men in summer 2019, and now he's looking to get a run of games at Sunderland.

He said: “I’m absolutely over the moon and I’m delighted to be here. I know what football means to people in the North East and how much Sunderland means to the supporters, so hopefully I can bring them some entertainment and good results.”

Jones started his career in the north east of England with Middlesbrough before joining Kilmarnock.
