Jordan Howard on Miles Sanders: ‘I feel like we complement each other’

Normally a player in Jordan Howard’s position might feel threatened by the arrival of rookie running back Miles Sanders, but the Eagles veteran and recently traded for tailback is saying all the right things at OTAs. Howard was initially thought of as the workhorse back that the Eagles have coveted for years, but Howie Roseman had even bigger plans, adding the dynamic Sanders in the second round of the 2019 draft.

Howard is unfazed by the competition though, telling NBC Sports Philadelphia that he and Sanders “complement each other” as running backs.

“Nah, it doesn’t worry me at all,” Howard said on Tuesday after his first practice as an Eagle. “I just have to focus on the year ahead. I can’t worry about being a free agent or anything like that. I just have to worry about the season ahead.”

When asked to elaborate on how the pairing will work, Howard stated that Sanders is “shifty [and], at the same time, powerful.” With the return of Corey Clement, the Eagles backfield is loaded, and could only have room for one more player.
