Jordan Hicks: ‘I’ve never seen myself as an injury-prone guy’

The Arizona Cardinals’ biggest splash in free agency was adding former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Jordan Hicks to a four-year, $34 million contract. Incredibly talented and productive, he has dealt with a number of injuries.

In four seasons, only once he has played in all 16 games. he has appeared in 43 of a possible 64 games.

However, he doesn’t think injuries will be an issue moving forward.

“I’ve never seen myself as an injury-prone guy,” he said in his introductory press conference. “Every single time I get hurt, I think it’s the last one of my career.”

The Cardinals have not had good luck with injuries the last few seasons, but Hicks believes this year things will turn around for him.

“I truly believe all that’s behind me. I’m excited to prove it.”

He doesn’t worry about what other people think of him. “In terms of health, I’m probably my hardest critic,” he explained.

He is excited for the defense the Cardinals will run under defensive coordinator Vance Joseph and expects to be on the field every week.

“If I’m not on the field, it’s personal.”
