Jordan Henderson sent Tottenham Hotspur transfer message as Liverpool set for Xherdan Shaqiri sale

Here's your Liverpool Morning Digest for Tuesday July 27.

Jordan Henderson sent Tottenham Hotspur transfer message with Liverpool admission

Jordan Henderson is “everything” Tottenham Hotspur need insists a former player at the north London club who has urged the Liverpool captain to join them.

Potential question marks have arisen over Henderson’s Anfield future after a shock report in the Athletic claimed no progress has been made over a new deal for the Reds skipper despite contract talks having taken place over the summer.

The Spurs Web cites White Hart Lane old boy Jamie O’Hara as telling talkSPORT that he would ‘love’ to see Henderson in a Tottenham shirt even though he admits that he cannot see the move actually happening.

He said: “I would love him at Spurs. He is everything we need.

“He’s a leader. A character on the pitch. He’s a driving force in midfield. I would absolutely love him to be at Spurs."

Xherdan Shaqiri regret as Liverpool prepare to sell after Jurgen Klopp pre-season experiment

With Xherdan Shaqiri having now gone public with his desire to seek a fresh start this summer, one of the more unusual Liverpool careers of recent times is edging closer to its conclusion.

Three seasons, 63 appearances, eight goals and Premier League, Champions League, Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup medals sounds like a major success on the surface.

But both the player and the fans who have watched him represent the Reds will feel that he still might have done more during his time at Anfield.

Without doubt, his biggest contribution was an assist for Gini Wijnaldum's header in that 4-0 win over Barcelona in the semi-final.

But that the opportunity to take part in that fixture only came about as the result of a rare injury to Mohamed Salah summed up how things would largely play out for him at Liverpool.

The Swiss never seemed a natural replacement for his more fleet-footed colleague, while Klopp never seemed convinced that he should stick with a 4-2-3-1 system that might have suited him better.
