Jordan Henderson sent PSG transfer message after 'plenty of options' Liverpool claim

Glen Johnson admits he finds it hard to believe that Jordan Henderson would sign for another Premier League club should he leave Liverpool.

Potential question marks have arisen over Henderson’s Anfield future following a number of media reports last week.

It was claimed that no progress has been made over a new deal for the Reds skipper despite contract talks having taken place over the summer.

Henderson's current deal runs until the summer of 2023 and he has been training with La Liga club RCD Mallorca while away on holiday.

The midfielder was granted extra time off by the Reds due to his commitments with England in this summer’s Euros.

Henderson is not expected to report back to Kirkby for pre-season training until the start of August and Johnson finds it hard to believe his former teammate could play for any other club in the Premier League.

“Knowing Hendo the way I do, he will be so loyal to Liverpool after all the success that they’ve had together, so I can’t really imagine him in another Premier League club’s shirt,” he told BettingOdds.com.

“He’s pretty much achieved all he can at Liverpool. Of course he’s still going to have the fire in his belly, but a move abroad could be potentially on the cards and I’m sure he will have plenty of options abroad if I’m being honest.”

Both Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have been named as possible destinations for Henderson should he leave Anfield anytime soon.

And Johnson believes a move to Mauricio Pochettino’s side would be the 31-year-old’s best option and it would be nice to see him star alongside some of PSG’s big names.

“Probably PSG. It would be nice to see him play with that calibre of players,” he said when asked which club out of the two he would like to see his former teammate join.

“Obviously the league isn’t like anything he’s used to, but it would be great to see him play with players who’ve won a lot in the game. It would be nice to see him amongst that circle.”
