Jordan Henderson was seen shouting "You're joking" after suffering an injury in the Merseyside derby on Saturday.
The Liverpool captain suffered a knock under a challenge from Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure in the first half at Anfield.
The midfielder, who has been used as a makeshift centre-back for Liverpool in recent weeks, tried his best to play on after receiving treatment.
But the Reds skipper was eventually replaced by Nat Phillips.
Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool have been hit very hard with injuries this season, and the German is currently without six stars: Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, Fabinho, Diogo Jota, James Milner and Joe Gomez.
Losing Henderson for any period of time will be another huge blow for the Reds.
Sky Sports commentator and former Red Jamie Carragher said: "More problems for Liverpool at centre-back with the captain going off. This isn't great for Liverpool."
Liverpool went behind just three minutes into the Merseyside derby, with Richarlison firing the Toffees ahead.
The Brazilian striker was played through by James Rodriguez, who got the better of new Liverpool signing Ozan Kabak.
