Jordan Henderson reveals how Liverpool squad helped Mo Salah get over Sergio Ramos clash

Mo Salah is desperate to light up the Champions League final – after being crocked by Real Madrid villain Sergio Ramos a year ago.

Jordan Henderson has claimed Liverpool ’s Egyptian striker – joint Premier League Golden Boot winner with Kop team-mate Sadio Mane and Arsenal ’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on 22 goals – can’t wait to make his mark against Tottenham in Spain on Saturday with the world watching.

Salah left the field in tears just 31 minutes into last year’s final in Kiev after dislocating his shoulder in a challenge by Ramos with Liverpool going on to lose 3-1.

And Henderson says the 26-year-old striker is raring to go.

“Obviously that was a massive disappointment to him. Everything he had done leading up to the final and then having to come off early.

“Of course it will be a big motivation to him to go out and show what he can do in a Champions League final and - touch wood - he can do it in the whole game.

“I know he can’t wait to get out there again.”

Henderson admitted he and the rest of Liverpool’s squad and backroom staff helped Salah get over the blow.

“You do feel the need as a team to comfort him - as a person rather than anything else. Of course you do because he was so emotional that he couldn’t contribute to that game as much as he would have liked.

“But football changes very quickly and he had to focus on being fir for the World Cup in Russia which he eventually did.”
