Jordan Henderson reveals hilarious reaction to Vincent Kompany goal for Man City vs Leicester

For most Manchester City fans it was the moment of the season.

With the clock ticking down against Leicester City at the Etihad and the Blues' hopes of retaining their title beginning to slip from their grasp, captain Vincent Kompany produced the defining moment of his career at the club.

Picking the ball up 30 yards from goal he advanced a couple of paces before unleashing a thunderbolt into the top corner. The goal secured City a 1-0 victory and kept them on track for the title. The wild celebrations at the Etihad showed how important that goal was.

Without that strike the title would have been in Liverpool's hands going into the final weekend of the season. Instead Kompany tilted the balance of power back towards Manchester.

Those intense celebrations weren't matched on Merseyside, with Liverpool's players and fans despondent when Kompany's rocket hit the back of the net.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson had settled down to watch the match, 24 hours before his own side played Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final, and the drama of Kompany's strike almost lead to him requiring a new TV.

“I hadn’t watched the previous one or two [Man City] games,” Henderson told Jamie Carragher on The Greatest Game podcast.

“So I thought ‘I’m going to watch it.’

“Obviously Kompany scores and the TV nearly comes off the wall.”

Kompany's goal would prove to be vital. City won 4-1 at Brighton on the final day, which meant Liverpool's win at home to Wolves counted for nothing.
