Jordan Henderson praises Jude Bellingham amid Liverpool transfer interest

Jordan Henderson messaged Jude Bellingham after his European masterclass helped Borussia Dortmund to a 2-1 win on Wednesday evening.

Bellingham bagged a goal and an assist in the Champions League fixture against Beşiktaş, helping the German giants get off to a winning start on the continent.

His performance against the Turkish side earned him plaudits from across the footballing world, including the Liverpool captain who commented on his Instagram account saying “Love to see it”.

Henderson was far from the only player to recognise the young Englishman’s performance, with Marcus Rashford, Reece James and Bayern Munich youngster Jamal Musiala all commenting to praise him.

This comes amid rumours Liverpool are interested in signing the midfielder , to help plug the gap left in their midfield by Georginio Wijnaldum after his departure.

The Daily Star reported that Liverpool had made the youngster their number one transfer target and were eyeing up a deal that could be worth £80million.

That would make him Liverpool’s record signing.

But at only 18, having been a part of England’s 2020 Euro squad and having consistently impressed for club, the Reds aren’t alone in trying to buy the Birmingham boy.

Manchester United are also rumoured to be interested after he turned the side down in 2020, favouring to move to Borussia Dortmund.

Against the Turkish team, Bellingham recovered from a rocky opening period, as Dortmund were tactically exposed with the youngster being dragged deep to the right to protect right-back Thomas Meunier.

Beşiktaş threatened especially through the width of their full-backs but after a change of shape Dortmund broke the deadlock with Bellingham in the 20th minute.

His goal meant he became the youngest player to ever score in back-to-back Champions League appearances, beating the record previously held by Mbappe.

Just before half-time, Bellingham set up Erling Haaland after a sublime dribble into the Beşiktaş box, cutting the ball back for the Norwegian who made it 66 goals in 66 games for Dortmund.

Javi Montero pulled a goal back for the Turkish hosts in added time but Dortmund and Bellingham were able to hang on for the win.

After the game, Haaland described Bellingham as "amazing".

Haaland is another Dortmund wonderkid who’s on the wishlist of top clubs across Europe, with a rumoured buy out clause kicking in at the end of this season.
