Jordan Henderson labelled 'annoying' by Gini Wijnaldum and Liverpool fans will love it

Gini Wijnaldum has labelled Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson as the best captain he has played under.

Wijnaldum has proved himself to be a vital member of the Reds squad since his arrival in 2016, helping the club win their sixth Champions League trophy last season.

The Dutchman has often played alongside Henderson in the Liverpool midfield, with the pair providing Jurgen Klopp with relentless amounts of energy in the middle of the park.

Wijnaldum has had the privilege of playing alongside some notable skippers in his career, including Mark Van Bommel and Kevin Strootman.

But when asked who is the best leader, Wijnaldum lauded the current Reds skipper, but did admit he can be “annoying” during matches.

“I’ve played with a few players who have great leadership, I have to say Kevin Strootman and Jordan Henderson were, I think, above the other ones,” Wijnaldum told the Football Show on Sky Sports.

“Mark Van Bommel was also a good leader and a good captain, but out of the three of them, I have to chose Henderson.

“It can be annoying [when he is motivating players on the pitch], but if you think about why he's doing it, it's only to help you as a person and the team so if you think about it in that way, you always appreciate it so we are really happy with the way Henderson is.”
