Jurgen Klopp remains hopeful Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson will be fit for the start of the Premier League season.
Henderson hasn't featured for the first team since injuring his knee during the win at Brighton and Hove Albion on July 8.
The midfielder took part in the recent training camp in Austria where he continued his individual rehabilitation along with Joel Matip, who is recovering from a foot problem.
Klopp expects both to return to full training in the coming days, with the Reds preparing to begin their championship defence at home to Leeds United on September 12.
Asked about the possibility of his captain being available, the Reds boss told liverpoolfc.com: “For that we have to see when he trains.
“I think Joel and Hendo will be in parts of team training next week and we will see.
"Of course, the longer they have the better the chance is, but I don’t know in this moment.”
Henderson was omitted from England's latest squad to allow him to continue working on his fitness.
The majority of Liverpool players who didn't feature in Saturday's Community Shield defeat to Arsenal will train at Melwood on Sunday.
That group will include Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has yet to play since the Reds squad returned and missed the Austria trip through injury.
