Jordan Henderson injury update after he's forced off with thigh problem in Chelsea win

Liverpool have provided an injury update on captain Jordan Henderson – and it could be good news for their clash against Arsenal.

The Reds midfielder was forced off in the 2-0 win against Chelsea at half time due to a thigh problem, bring replaced for the second half by debutant Thiago Alcantara.

And assistant coach Pep Lijnders has said he will not be available for their Carabao Cup game against Lincoln on Thursday but could make their Premier League clash against the Gunners.

Jurgen Klopp's right-hand man said: "Hendo, hopefully he will get back next week, but tomorrow for sure is too soon for Hendo. Maybe [back for Arsenal], yeah, hopefully.”"

Henderson suffered injury plights during the title-wining 2019/20 campaign, picking up a hamstring injury against Atletico Madrid in February.

While the midfielder had a knock to his knee after lockdown in a 3-1 win against Brighton, lifting the trophy at Anfield from the injury bench.

Liverpool's captain is not the only one with injuries as defenders Joe Gomez and Joel Matip are both recovering from knocks.

Lijnders added: “[For] Joe [it] comes too soon, he will train Friday with the team – that’s good news, to be honest.

“Joel will probably only come back during the international break; that will take some longer time, some more time."

Henderson' replacement Thiago was making his first appearance for the club since his move from Bayern Munich against Chelsea – and he impressed fans with a passionate display at Stamford Bridge.
