Jordan Henderson has already revealed Liverpool plan as Arsenal considered 'favourites'

Arsenal are "favourites" to sign Jordan Henderson should he leave Liverpool this summer.

That's according to leading bookmaker Coral, who consider the Gunners as Henderson 's most likely destination should he leave Anfield.

Coral's Harry Aitkenhead said: "Jordan Henderson is now into the last two years of his current contract at Liverpool.

"And if and when he does move on, Arsenal are our favourites to sign the midfielder."

According to The Athletic, the 31-year-old has been talking with the Reds over a new and improved deal on Merseyside, but those negotiations have not progressed much, with Liverpool's owners focused on 'bigger priorities' as it stands.

The Liverpool captain will go down as a legend for his part in the club's recent success. Henderson starred in the Reds' Champions League triumph in 2019 and then the Premier League win a year later.

Despite this, the two parties seemingly cannot reach an agreement over where his future lies - with just under two years remaining on his deal with Jurgen Klopp 's men.

However, speaking to the media in 2018 after penning a new five-year deal at Liverpool, Henderson made it very clear there that he plans to finish his footballing career at Anfield, although that may have changed now.

"It does not seem like too long ago when I signed my first one - it feels like yesterday, really - but a lot has happened since then," Henderson told Liverpool's official website in 2018.

“I feel it has been a progressive journey for me throughout my time here and one I’ve enjoyed so much.

“There is no other place in the world I would rather play football. I want to be here for as long as I can be.

"I am so privileged to have been a part of this club for so long, and hopefully even longer now."

The uncertainty over his contract leaves the door open for possible suitors, and there are set to be plenty for someone of Henderson's ability.

Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly an admirer of Henderson, with the former Tottenham head coach said to be keeping a close eye on the developments at Anfield.
