Jordan Henderson hands Liverpool boost ahead of Watford and PSG matches

Jordan Henderson is in contention for Liverpool's trip to Watford on Saturday.

The midfielder missed out on England’s thrilling Uefa Nations League win over Croatia on Sunday having suffered a slight recurrence of a recent hamstring problem.

Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate opted against taking a risk with Henderson's fitness and said of his decision: “Jordan has been carrying a bit of an injury.

“He had some game time the other night but wasn’t fully happy with it.

“He’s somebody who always wants to play and in the end I had to take a decision. In these games you’ve got to be clear in your mind and perfectly happy."

Henderson failed to earn a start in Liverpool’s last five fixtures due to hamstring issues, and Jurgen Klopp may have feared another stint without his captain.

However, the 28-year-old has responded positively to treatment this week and is expected to be available for this weekend’s trip to Vicarage Road.

Henderson’s availability comes as a huge boost to the Reds ahead of a crucial run of fixtures in both the Premier League and Champions League.

After taking on Watford, Klopp’s men head out to France for a showdown with Paris Saint-Germain that could prove crucial to their hopes of reaching the knockout stages.

And that heavyweight clash is quickly followed by a Merseyside derby meeting with Everton at Anfield.
