Jordan Henderson hailed for reaction to first Everton goal in new Liverpool clip

Jordan Henderson has been hailed by fans for his reaction to Liverpool conceding their first goal against Everton in the Merseyside derby.

The Reds could not hold on against their city rivals, getting pegged back twice by the Premier League leaders.

Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah gave Jurgen Klopp’s side the lead twice at Goodison Park.

But set-piece headers from Michael Keane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin meant Carlo Ancelotti’s side kept up their unbeaten run.

Henderson thought he had won the derby in the dying minutes, only to be denied by a VAR decision in the build-up.

And new footage has emerged which shows the captain’s fighting spirit that almost got them victory.

In the clip, Keane climbs highest in the penalty box to draw Everton level for the first time after 20 minutes of play.

While the Toffees players celebrate, goalkeeper Adrian picks the ball out the back of his net.

But captain Henderson immediately yells at the Spaniard “come on”, urging him to get the ball back to the centre-spot.

This footage was shared on the Reds’ official YouTube channel on Monday, where the Anfield faithful heaped praise on the Englishman.

“Respect for Hendo,” one supporter said.

Henderson’s goal was disallowed because Mane’s arm put him offside before providing the assist to the captain.

And the midfielder could only respond by making fun of the incident in his post-match interview.

"They bend the line sometimes to make it offside," the 30-year-old told BT Sport .

"Disappointed we haven't got the win. The overall performance, the chances we created, I think we deserved to win the game. Everton would be happier with the draw."

It comes as Henderson sent a message on social media to team-mate Virgil van Dijk after his horror injury in the derby.
